Internships in my Washington, DC and district offices run throughout the fall, spring, or summer semesters for college students. Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules, but generally run 9:00 am to 6:00 pm when Congress is in session and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when not in session.
In Washington, interns will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including answering phones, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, and answering constituent letters. Through this program, interns will learn about the legislative process and other functions of a Congressional office.
To apply for a Washington, D.C.-based internship please email your resume, cover letter, and one writing sample to Phoebe Nelson (Phoebe.Nelson@mail.house.gov). Applications for a Fall 2021 internship position are now open!
In my District office, interns may be tasked with day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters, working on constituent casework, and handling District-based projects.
At this time, internships with my district offices have been paused. We hope to start up again in the fall!
