American Rescue Plan Sends $4M To Canyonlands
SAFFORD — Canyonlands Healthcare, which serves Graham and Greenlee counties, is the recipient of nearly $4 million courtesy of the American Rescue Plan.
“Community health centers in Arizona have been pushed to a breaking point again and again as they work to provide essential, life-saving care to thousands of Arizonans during this public health crisis,” said U.S. Rep. Tom O’Halleran, D-Ariz., in announcing the grant funding.
“I am pleased to see funding I worked to secure under our American Rescue Plan headed to the First District to assist the community health center doctors, nurses, and staff working tirelessly on the frontlines of this pandemic to keep families in rural and underserved communities safe and healthy.”
A total of $32.7 million is being granted to five different community health-care providers in Arizona’s first congressional district.
O’Halleran’s district, which runs along the eastern side of the state north to the Four Corners area, and then west across the northern portion of the state, is geographically the 11th largest congressional district in the nation. It also has the largest indigenous population of any congressional district, with 25 percent of the district’s population Native American.
