WASHINGTON—Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) applauded today’s announcement from the U.S. Forest Service awarding funding to 19 federal projects in Arizona’s First Congressional District via the Great American Outdoors Act, legislation O’Halleran cosponsored and voted to pass last Congress.
In the First District, sites such as the Arizona National Scenic Trail and Coconino National Forest are set to receive much-needed funding. For a full list of projects that received funding in AZ-01, CLICK HERE.
“Last fall, I was proud to vote in favor of this important legislation that protects our most precious public lands and parks,” said O’Halleran. “Today, I am pleased to see our bill provide funding for 19 projects in the First District, preserving natural treasures, wildlife habitats, waterways, and the rich cultural heritage of many Native American tribes.”
Total funding awarded amounts to $285 million, made available under the newly created National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund, established in 2020 by the Great American Outdoors Act.
