O’Halleran Calls for Suspension of Postmaster DeJoy Until House Oversight Investigation Completed

Press Release

WASHINGTON – Following reports of allegations that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy reimbursed employees for campaign contributions made to DeJoy’s preferred political candidates, violating North Carolina and federal election laws, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) issued the following statement:

“Partisan policy changes that exacerbated a dramatic increase in delayed and undelivered mail during a global pandemic were bad enough, but reimbursing employees for campaign contributions to political allies is completely illegal. Our Postmaster General should be focused on protecting the security of our elections and ensuring veterans receive their medications in a timely manner, not violating ethics rules and pressuring his employees for political gain. Postmaster DeJoy should be suspended until the House Oversight Committee’s investigation is complete.”
