Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) joined Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX), Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), and other members of Congress to announce bipartisan legislation to create a permanent solution for DREAMers and invest in 21st century border security technology.

“Now more than ever, we must move past divisive partisan rhetoric that prevents us from solving the challenges our communities face, including stability for DREAMers and safe, secure communities,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “That is why I am proud to join my colleagues to introduce the bipartisan USA Act. This legislation builds off the DREAM Act and provides a permanent solution for DREAMers while investing in smart, technology-driven investments in border security.”

The USA Act codifies many of the provisions within the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, including requirements for Conditional Permanent Resident Status and Lawful Permanent Resident Status. Additionally, the USA Act allocates resources to the Department of Homeland Security to deploy 21st century technology along the border.

“The process that got us to this point was collaborative, and it shows the American people that effective policymaking is possible if we work together to find common ground,” continued O’Halleran. “This is the kind of work we need to be doing in Washington, and I continue to urge my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to follow our lead.”
