O’Halleran to Participate in Hearing on Oversight of Farmers to Families Food Box Program
VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK – Tomorrow, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01), a member of the House Agriculture Committee will participate as in a Subcommittee on Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations Hearing on the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. The hearing follows reports that the program fell short of its target amount of food delivered before the June 30 deadline set in May when contracts were awarded.
“The Food to Farm Box Program was intended to assist both struggling farmers and families across our nation, especially as food insecurity increases under the weight of the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic,” said O’Halleran. “We must ensure proper oversight of this important program and hold the responsible agencies accountable to strengthen and expand this critical relief without exacerbating the existing burden on families, food banks, and farmers.”
Livestream the hearing HERE at 1 PM EST/10 AM MST, Tuesday, July 21.
