O'Halleran Announces Funding for Springerville Public Safety Building
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) applauded the recent announcement by the USDA to award $400,000 in loans and grants to the Springerville Municipal Property Corporation to purchase commercial property to house the Springerville police and fire departments.
“Public safety departments in communities throughout the most rural areas of our country are struggling to compete for critical resources with larger, metropolitan areas, and that leaves hardworking families at risk,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “This investment will allow Springerville’s first responders to consolidate their operations into one building, enabling them to better serve their community and the entire region. This opportunity was made possible through the USDA’s Office of Rural Development, an office that I have fought to protect against organizational restructuring and budget cuts that would undermine its mission of investing in rural America.”
The loans and grants were made available through the USDA’s Community Facilities Direct Loan Program. The funding helps rural areas purchase, construct, or improve community facilities that provide necessary services for rural communities, such as public safety departments, schools, and libraries.
