O'Halleran Applauds Investment in Rio de Flag Project
WASHINGTON - Congressman Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01) applauded an announcement made early this month by the Army Corps of Engineers to provide an additional $1.3 million in funding to complete the design of the Rio de Flag flood control project in Flagstaff.
"A major flood event in Flagstaff would devastate downtown and put lives in danger, so this flood control project is vital to the region. It's completion has been a priority of the city of Flagstaff and of mine," said Rep. O'Halleran. "After working closely with the Army Corps of Engineers and my colleagues here in Congress, I am pleased to see this project moving forward with the full funding that is necessary to complete this important step. The entire region will benefit from the completion of this flood control project, and I look forward to continuing our hard work to get it over the finish line."
The Army Corps of Engineers announced $1.3 million in additional funding to complete 100 percent design of project, including review of the ADot Route 66/B40 Bridge design. More information about funding can be found here.
Earlier this year, Reps. O'Halleran (AZ-01) and Gosar (AZ-04) sent a letter requesting complete funding for the design of the project. Read the letter here.
