O'Halleran Calls for Action Following State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom O’Halleran released this statement following President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address:
“Once again, President Trump has pivoted to a message of unity and bipartisanship, but if history is any indication, that sentiment will not last long. He has pledged to work in a bipartisan way for two years, and we have very little to show for it. Rural Arizona families are hurting; they want to see real action. We must prioritize our rural communities and address their most pressing needs, including infrastructure investment, good-paying, lasting jobs that support a family, and a quality education that prepares the next generation of workers for 21st century jobs.
“What we cannot afford is another politically motivated government shutdown that hurts workers and families. We should never be able to hold the livelihood of the American people hostage by allowing the government to shut down. There is no reason we cannot keep the government of the greatest nation in the world open for business while we negotiate and address our border security needs.
“I am ready to work with anyone, regardless of political party, to move our nation forward, and I invite President Trump to put his words into action and join me.”
