O'Halleran Calls for Education, Workforce Training Investments
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran called on Congressional leaders and President Donald Trump to get serious about investing in career and technical training and jobs training programs.
“We have a duty to provide future generations of Americans with access to quality education and training that prepares them for 21st century jobs. It appears, according to his call for an investment in workforce and skills training in his State of the Union Address, President Trump shares that vision,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “Unfortunately, the president’s first budget blueprint called for significant cuts to programs that expand access to education for America’s students.”
Included in the Administration’s first budget blueprint were billions of dollars in cuts to programs like the Perkins program that supports career and technical education, Adult Education State Grants, and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
“I stand ready to work with my colleagues on bipartisan legislation that invests in our children and our economy,” continued O’Halleran. “The American people are looking to us for leadership on this issue. It is time for Congress and the president to step up.”
