O'Halleran Dismayed by Lack of Leadership, Reckless Government Shutdown

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Tom O'Halleran (AZ-01) released a statement following the government shutdown:

"It is disappointing that leaders in Washington have chosen to allow the government to shut down rather than put forward a thoughtful, bipartisan bill that funds our military, Children's Health Insurance Program, and community health centers and provide stability for DREAMers. My colleagues and I are ready to find a solution that actually works, and we continue to urge Speaker Ryan to work with us.

"These short-term funding bills are irresponsible and cost our military and federal agencies billions of wasted dollars. We must stop putting a band-aid over the problem; it is long past time to come together and work on a bipartisan budgeting process that invests in the future of our country."

O'Halleran sent a letter earlier this week, signed by six other members of Congress, urging Speaker Ryan to allow for a bipartisan budget to come to the floor for a vote.
