O'Halleran Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Supporting Tribal Colleges and Universities
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) introduced a resolution recognizing the importance of tribal colleges and universities to the economic, educational, and social wellbeing of Indian Country and designating the week of February 3, 2019 as National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week. The bipartisan resolution is cosponsored by Reps. Torres Small (NM-02), Don Young (AK-At Large), and Tom Cole (OK-04).
“In Arizona, and across the country, tribal colleges and universities serve students from more than 230 federally recognized Indian tribes. They are critical to their respective communities, providing education and job opportunities for students,” said O’Halleran. “I am proud to introduce this bipartisan resolution of support for these education institutions and to designate this week as National Tribal Colleges and Universities Week.”
The resolution is a companion to the bipartisan resolution introduced by Senators Tester, Daines, Hoeven, Udall, Warren, Bennet, Smith, Baldwin, Heinrich, Harris, Moran, Klobuchar, Murray, Barrasso, Rounds, Cramer, Sanders, Tiiune, Feinstein, Sinema, Stabenow, Cantwell, Sullivan, and Peters.
