O'Halleran Named as Member of the Farm Bill Conference Committee
Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran, a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and chair of the Blue Dog Special Task Force on Rural America, was named as a conferee for the 2018 Farm Bill Conference Committee.
“Agriculture touches every corner of our state, and this Farm Bill will impact every single American. With crop prices at historic lows and rural communities losing out on critical economic development opportunities, it is imperative that we get this legislation right. We must ensure our rural communities and ag producers -- some of the hardest working folks in our country -- have the support they need to succeed and thrive.
“I look forward to working with members of this conference committee to prioritize solutions to the issues impacting rural America. I will push for greater focus on water conservation and management projects that are so important for the West, broadband internet deployment and infrastructure investments, support for our farmers and ranchers, forest management and conservation programs, and nutrition assistance that countless children and veterans rely on every day. I am committed to working on these issues and getting this Farm Bill finished before our nation’s farmers are done with harvest.”
Today, the House voted to go to conference to work out the differences between the House and Senate versions of the final legislation. O’Halleran joins Congressman Raúl Grijalva as the only Arizonans on the conference committee.
