O'Halleran Votes to Fund Government, Calls for Passage of Budget, DREAM Act
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) voted to pass a Continuing Resolution to fund the government through the new year, and he slammed Congressional leaders for failing to pass a budget and a clean DREAM Act.
“We cannot play politics with the health and wellbeing of the 22,000 Arizona children on KidsCare or the hundreds of thousands of Arizona veterans who rely on VA programs,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “It is irresponsible for Congress to leave for the holidays with so much critical business left unfinished. We should be in session in Washington every single day until we pass a full reauthorization of CHIP and a clean DREAM Act.
The Continuing Resolution passed the House in a bipartisan vote, and it includes short-term funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program and Community Health Centers through March, as well as funding for the VA Choice program.
“This is a reckless and dangerous way to govern,” continued O’Halleran. Our military’s readiness and families that depend on life-saving health programs are put at risk by the failure to pass a timely budget.”
