Rep. O’Halleran Announces Committee Assignments
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) announced his committee assignments for the 115th Congress. O’Halleran will serve on two committees: the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Armed Services Committee.
The House Committee on Agriculture oversees issues critical to rural Arizona, such as agriculture; economics and education; dairy, livestock, poultry, and meat production; nutrition; forestry; water conservation; and rural development. The 1st District is home to more than 13,500 farms and early 23,000 farm operators, and generates billions of dollars in revenue for the state.
“As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to strengthen our rural economy and protect our natural resources,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “It is an honor to be able to work on critical legislation like the Farm Bill and give Arizona farmers, ranchers, and families a voice in the process.”
The House Armed Services Committee has jurisdiction over defense policy, ongoing military operations and the organization and reform of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy. Arizona is home to seven military bases and thousands of active-duty servicemembers and veterans.
“The security of Arizona families is my top priority in Congress,” said O’Halleran. “I look forward to engaging our military and civilian defense leaders in conversations about strengthening our national security and ensuring our Armed Forces have the tools they need to complete their missions around the world.”
