Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) announced his cosponsorship of the Military Spouses Hiring Act, bipartisan legislation that encourages employers to hire military spouses.

“Our military families serve our country alongside our servicemembers, and Congress should not sit idly by while they struggle to make ends meet,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “Not only will this commonsense legislation bring down the staggering unemployment rate among military spouses, it would improve morale and servicemember retention.”

The Military Spouses Hiring Act creates a tax incentive for employers to hire military spouses by adding them to the list of target groups that employers can hire to receive the Work Opportunity Tax Credit. The legislation has been endorsed by the National Military Family Association and Military Officers Association of America.
