Rep. O’Halleran, Members of Bipartisan Heroin Task Force Announce Legislative Agenda
Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran joined fellow members of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force at a press conference to introduce the group’s legislative agenda to address the opioid epidemic in the United States from the perspective of law enforcement, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
“More than 40 years ago, I witnessed, firsthand as a narcotics officer, the impact that opioids and other drugs have on our communities. It was a crisis that affected every neighborhood, destroyed families, and it knew no bounds.
“Now, more than four decades later, the problem has only gotten worse. In towns and cities across the country, people young and old; poor and rich, fall victim to addictive drugs that ruin their lives and destroy families. We must put politics aside and find comprehensive solutions that bring relief to our communities. I am proud to be a member of this task force, and to work with my colleagues on this pivotal legislation.”
The bills included in the agenda include Jessie’s Law, the STOP OD Act, the Addiction Recovery Through Family Health Accounts Act, Road to Recovery Act, the INTERDICT Act, the Synthetic Drug Awareness Act, the CRIB Act, and the VA Prescription Data Accountability Act.
