Rep. O'Halleran Calls for Immediate Action on Immigration Reform
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01), citing the recent issues regarding family separation and DACA, called for immediate legislative action on immigration reform:
“DREAMers, asylum seekers, and those seeking to immigrate to our country have been left without answers as Washington continues to drag its feet on immigration reform legislation. For too long, Congress has put off drafting, debating, and passing a comprehensive, bipartisan bill, and it has had a lasting, negative impact on communities across the country. This is an economic and humanitarian issue.
“We must get to work on an immigration bill that gives DACA recipients stability, ensures families are not being separated when they enter our country legally, seeking asylum, and encourages legal immigration with an earned pathway to citizenship. Everyone understands the need for a secure border, and that is why this bill must also include investments in 21st century border security technology. I have been working with a bipartisan group of legislators to draft an immigration bill that addresses these issues, and I am ready to continue that work with Congressional leaders. This issue is of the utmost importance to our border states and the entire nation."
