Rep. O'Halleran Chosen to Serve on Agriculture Committee
WASHINGTON—Yesterday, Congressman Tom O’Halleran (AZ-01) was selected to continue serving on the House Committee on Agriculture. The committee is devoted to establishing farm policy related to agriculture and rural America and developing pragmatic solutions to issues that farmers, ranchers, and producers are facing.
“Arizona’s First Congressional District is one of the most rural districts in America, and our ag producers are the cornerstone of our economy,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to give rural America a voice in Washington. The needs of these communities are no longer going to be placed on the backburner.”
The House Committee on Agriculture oversees many issues critical to rural Arizona, such as:
- Agricultural research and development
- Economics and education
- Forestry and conservation
- International and national trade markets
- Water issues and conservation
- Rural development.
