Press Release

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Tom O’Halleran denounced yesterday evening’s bomb threats against Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) in Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona.

“The Arizona families affected by yesterday’s bomb threats have done nothing to deserve this attack, and no one should live in fear due to their religious beliefs,” said Rep. O’Halleran. “These cowardly attacks and cemetery vandalism have no place in our country. They must stop.”

The Tucson and Scottsdale threats were two out of 13 community centers to receive a bomb threat on Monday. This marks the fifth wave of threats on JCCs and other Jewish institutions since January. In addition, vandals have destroyed hundreds of headstones in Jewish cemeteries across the country.

Rep. O’Halleran recently signed a bipartisan letter urging the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Attorney General, and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to address the rising number of threats leveled at Jewish Community Centers (JCCs) across the country.
