Rep. Tom O'Halleran Seeks to Halt Removal of Apache Helicopters from Marana
SEDONA, Ariz. - Amid reports that the U.S. Army has approved a stationing decision to divest Arizona and Pennsylvania's National Guard Apache units, Congressman Tom O'Halleran released the following statement:
"At a time when our nation faces serious and increasing global threats to our security, I am deeply concerned by the Army's decision to cut Apache units from the National Guard. This will have a devastating impact on our military's readiness and the National Guard's aviation capabilities.
"As a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am working with my colleagues to seek a suspension of the Army's decision until the serious concerns and questions we have about the potentially irreversible effects of this decision are meaningfully addressed."
O'Halleran represents Marana, which is home to the Silverbell Army Heliport, the Western Army Aviation Training Site (WAATS), and the 1st/285th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion.
